Election of a New Speaker

Ottawa, ON – Moments ago the House of Commons elected Hon. Greg Fergus as its new speaker. Following the shameful events surrounding the resignation of the previous speaker, this is the first of many steps toward a recovery from international embarrassment. The institution of the House of Commons is a sacred one that must be protected. I hope the new speaker will put his best effort to maintain order and respect in the house.
